This summer has been full of events and announcements, but most importantly, it has been a great opportunity to represent Macleod, around the world and right here at home.

This past May, I had the opportunity to represent the Government at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East held in Jordan, During the Forum, I participated in discussions regarding how to best develop economic diversification and peace in the region. I also had the chance to see CIDA in action at the Baqa’a refugee camp in Amman, which holds about 100,000 displaced Palestinians fleeing the West Bank. Seeing a refugee camp gave me a better understanding of the challenges faced by the United Nations and development agencies in refugee situations.

Closer to home, I had the opportunity to speak to a group of energetic and motivated young Canadians who were participating in Junior Team Canada’s National Youth Caucus in July. These exceptional young Canadians came from all parts of Canada to make connections and prepare for an upcoming trip to Asia to study development and trade issues. I discussed with them my firsthand experiences in visiting developing countries and seeing the important role that Canada plays around the world.

While my portfolio responsibilities have a global focus, first and foremost I represent Macleod and serve my constituents. This summer, I am taking part in many community events and my Claresholm office is always open to my constituents. I invite you to take a look at the photo gallery and take a look at the recent news to see the latest that our government is doing for Canadians.

As we head into fall, I encourage you to contact me and let me know what your issues and priorities are for the federal government. Hearing from my constituents helps to make me a stronger representative for you in Ottawa.
