Menzies Speaks In Support Of Government Funded Youth Programs

Ottawa — Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, stood in the House of Commons today to promote government education programs for youth.

“Mr. Speaker, I would like to draw attention to the great benefit that government supported education programs provide to our youth,” said Menzies.

Programs for youth on Parliament Hill, such as the Parliamentary Page Program and Parliamentary Internship program, allow students to get a first-hand look at how Parliament functions. Youth exchange programs funded by the Government allow young Canadians to explore other traditions, share new ideas and broaden their appreciation of our country’s great diversity.

Menzies further highlighted the recent trip that gave students from Macleod the opportunity to participate in an exchange with Ontario through SEVEC, an organization supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage.

“I am delighted that youth in my riding are taking advantage of the many education programs offered by our government,” said Menzies, adding that he hopes the youth use what they learn from their experiences to make Canada an ever better country.
