June 14, 2006
Ottawa, Ontario – Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation today raised awareness of Alberta being the feature of the upcoming Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D. C.

“More than a million Americans, along with US politicians, senior government officials and industry leaders, will get a close-up look at Alberta’s beauty, diversity and opportunity this summer as a result of the festival, “ said Menzies. “This marks the first time that a Canadian province has been featured in the 40-year history of the Festival.”

From June 30 to July 11, more than 150 Albertans will bring Alberta to life at the National Mall.  “I am pleased that four people from the riding of Macleod will be participating.  I wish Hal Eagletail, Ian Tyson, Jenny Burke and Doris Daley good luck and know that they will be great Ambassadors for the people of Macleod and of Alberta,” said Menzies.

“Alberta is a great province and has much to offer,” said Menzies. “It is great to see it getting this type of recognition.”
