Welcome
May 19, 2011

On May 2nd, we made history! We elected a strong, stable Conservative majority Government after twenty-three years of instability and minority mandates. Canadians declared in one loud, strong voice that a Government capable of action and a Government willing to stand up for Canadian families was essential to the future of our great nation.

I am once again humbled and truly honoured to have been chosen by the great people of the Riding of Macleod to represent you in the House of Commons. Thank you for your continued and unwavering support! My success this past election was a direct result of the hard work and countless hours given by my many volunteers and supports just like you. Please accept my pledge to work hard on your behalf, and to get things done for the people of Macleod! I would also like to congratulate the other candidates who ran in Macleod and across this great country on their excellent campaigns.

When we were given our first mandate in 2006, we committed to lowering taxes for working Canadians, protecting Canadian communities through our commitment to improving the justice system, supporting hard-working parents and their right to select the childcare program that fits their needs, and ensuring adequate healthcare was accessible to all Canadians.

We have held true to these promises and we have achieved real results for Canadian families. Moving forward, we are committed to creating jobs through training, trade and low taxes, supporting families through our Family Tax Cuts; increasing support for seniors and caregivers; eliminating the deficit by 2014-15 by controlling spending and cutting waste; making streets safe through the creation of new laws to protect children and the elderly; and standing on guard for Canada by cracking down on human smuggling and strengthening the Canadian armed forces.

Throughout this election, I travelled across the great riding of Macleod, from Gleichen to Hillspring, from Moon River to Kananaskis, from Lomond to Coleman, to hear from you in your homes and communities. I look forward to continuing to represent you and all my constituents in the riding of Macleod during this 41st Parliamentary Session, as well as continuing to put the needs of Canadian families on the agenda through my post as Minister of State (Finance). Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all once again for your continued support and wish you all a pleasant and relaxing summer filled friends, family, and fun!

Sincerely,

Ted Menzies, MP
Macleod
