Ted Menzies to take on additional role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade

Ottawa –Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod, received a new assignment from Prime Minister Stephen Harper yesterday, becoming the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade.   This new assignment is in addition to his responsibilities as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation.

“I am honoured to receive this new role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade,” said Mr. Menzies. “I look forward to working with my Parliamentary colleagues and all Canadians in these two important portfolios.”

As Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Menzies will assist the Minister of International trade by supporting productive dialogue between Parliamentarians and the Minister, and within the government.  This new role is in addition to the role of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation, a role he has held since February, 2006.  Mr. Menzies will also continue to be a permanent Member of the Standing Committee on International Trade.

Mr. Menzies’ new assignment was approved by Order in Council at a meeting of the federal Cabinet yesterday.
