Canada Post to Undergo Strategic Review says Ted Menzies, MP
April 30, 2008
Ottawa – Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, is advising that the Government of Canada will conduct a strategic review of the Canada Post Corporation. The review will focus on market and competition, public policy objectives, commercial activities and financial and performance targets. “Canada Post is facing new challenges, such as the increased use of email over letter mail,” says Menzies. “We want to make sure that Canada Post is equipped to manage these challenges.” According to Menzies, the review will be conducted by a three-member External Advisory Panel. The Panel will consult a wide range of stakeholders such as Canada Post and their unions, customers and competitors and federal departments and agencies. “The Panel welcomes input from the general public,” says Menzies. “I invite all of my constituents to write a submission for the Panel’s consideration.” Submissions can be made online at the Canada Post Corporation Strategic Review website: www.cpcstrategicreview.gc.ca. Individuals can also mail their submissions directly to: Canada Post Corporation Strategic Review 330 Sparks Street (HCCR) Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0N5 The Advisory Panel’s report is due to the Minister Responsible for Canada Post, Lawrence Cannon, by December 2008. |
