Did you know...? - Edition 3
July 31, 2009
Did You Know....? That…This past week was Family Week and that the Conservative Government is delivering on its commitments to families! To demonstrate its continued support to families, the Government of Canada has put into place several key initiatives. For instance, we introduced a new child tax credit that provided up to $310 of tax relief for each child under 18, helping more than 3 million Canadian families. Furthermore, the marriage penalty in the tax system has been removed. That...Registered Education Savings Plans have been strengthened, so families can plan better for the future. We’re helping young families get a head start on buying their first homes, providing up to $750 in tax relief. Furthermore, a new tax credit is in place for families that enroll kids in sports and other physical activities. That…Your Conservative Government is helping the farmers of tomorrow with the farm programs of today. We are providing $1 Billion in credit through the new Agricultural Loans Act to facilitate the sale of farms from one generation to the next and we are investing in the next generation of farmers through 4-H. That…The Government of Canada is working with the provinces and territories to assist Canadian producers and providing substantial funding to help farmers achieve high production margins. We are ensuring competitive markets for Canadian producers and consumers. That…More Canadian families and businesses will have access to high-speed internet services due to a major new investment to extend and improve broadband coverage, part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. On July 30, the Prime Minister of Canada announced major improvements to broadband internet access in rural Canada. Our government will fund up to 50 percent of the costs for organizations selected to deploy broadband infrastructure and services to these areas. That…There has never been a better time to renovate your home! The Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC) puts more money in the hands of Canadians when they need it most, while stimulating our construction and building-supply industries. More specifically, the HRTC applies to eligible expenses of more than $1,000, but not more than $10,000, resulting in a maximum non-refundable tax credit of $1,350. Our Government is making it easy for Canadians to take advantage of this time-limited tax cut. |
