Hopefully the pace of life has slowed, just a little bit, so that we can all enjoy the warm summer sun. I don’t think there are many people in the world who appreciate summer as much as Canadians do...the Canadian winters are definitely cold and long and the summers are breathtaking yet never quite long enough. This summer I have been very active travelling throughout the riding of Macleod attending various events, meetings and celebrations. Furthermore, my position as Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Finance has given me the opportunity to share the values and expertise of the Canadian people with so many countries around the world who welcome our generosity and advice. This season my travels have taken me from coast to coast to coast, as well as to some international destinations where I had the opportunity to share Canada’s strength and confidence in the future. One thing remained constant however, and that is the need for my constituents to know that their concerns are being heard and addressed with as much enthusiasm and commitment as issues on the national stage. Upon resumption of the House of Commons in September, I will be participating in the cross country Pre-Budget Consultations in preparation for Budget 2009. The focus of the consultation process is to hear what Canadians believe the federal government’s priorities should be. Many of the recommendations flowing out of this consultation process will be implemented in the 2009 federal budget. It is indeed a privilege to represent the citizens of beautiful Macleod. I invite you to visit my Photo Gallery so I can share with you some of the adventures I experienced this past spring and summer. I am routinely reminded of all the enormous accomplishments that we have made together. Please remember that my office in Claresholm is open throughout the summer and my assistants are available to assist you as well. Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! |
