Applications under the Communities Component of the Building Canada Fund in Alberta now being accepted
January 07, 2009
Ottawa – Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, is pleased to advise that communities of less than 100,000 across Alberta can now apply to the $176 million Building Canada Fund - Communities Component (BCF-CC). Communities can access information on the fund and how to apply for funding at www.buildingcanadafundalberta-cc.ca . The nine categories of infrastructure that are eligible for funding are water, wastewater, solid waste, local roads, culture, sports, connectivity, green energy, and collaborative projects. Projects will be evaluated by a federal-provincial committee through a competitive application-based process. The deadline for applications is March 15, 2009. “The Government of Canada is proud to provide long-term, stable and predictable funding in order to help infrastructures needs across Alberta,” said Menzies. “The community projects built under this program will help make Canada a better and safer country and support future developments.” Communities can get more information by visiting: www.buildingcanadafundalberta-cc.ca and www.buildingcanada.gc.ca |
