Cross-country consultations throughout the holiday season
OTTAWA – Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance is pleased to inform you that the Conservative Government has and will continue to travel the country for pre-budget consultations over the next few weeks.
As Canadians prepare for the Christmas and the holiday season, Menzies will be busy with Minister Flaherty in pre-budget consultations in various locations across Canada.
Minister Flaherty and Menzies began their 7 week consultations on Friday, December 12th in Saint John and over the next several weeks, will continue to participate in meetings with their own Caucus Members, Provincial Finance Ministers, opposition MPs, stakeholders, industries and many individual Canadians in planning a budget that will help deal with this fiscal challenge we face. Menzies will continue this tour in Saskatoon this week, and he will be heading to other cities, such as Toronto and Victoria as well.
No one budget will be able fix all of our economic woes, but rather will be a part of how we move forward and this Government will bring forward a smart stimulus that will make a real difference for Canadians.
On December11th, Minister Flaherty launched the Government’s national consultation leading into its fourth budget, to be tabled on January 27, 2009. We invite you to share your thoughts and opinions and have your voice heard by submitting your ideas.
