
MENZIES ATTENDS PACIFIC-NORTHWEST ECONOMIC REGION SUMMIT IN ANCHORAGE

CLARESHOLM, AB – Ted Menzies, Member of Parliament for Macleod and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade and to the Minister of International Cooperation, represented the Government of Canada at the 17th Pacific Northwest Economic Region Annual Summit, held in Anchorage, Alaska from July 22-26. “This Summit highlights the leadership and the opportunity that is found within the Pacific Northwest region,” said Menzies. “The Canada-US partnership has brought prosperity and opportunity to both sides of the border and this Summit highlights how we can continue to work with our American counterparts to tackle the issues that affect the Pacific Northwest region.” The 17th Annual Summit addressed a number of issues in the Canada-US relationship from a regional perspective, including border and energy issues, tourism, workforce mobility, transportation and the environment. The Pacific Northwest Economic Region is an influential organization which brings together key legislators, government officials and private-sector leaders from Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Yukon and Washington. |
